Who we are

SchoolRange is a school admissions research and planning service. For privacy questions or requests, email hello@schoolrange.com.

Information kept in your browser

The state-school planner stores your family profile, shortlist and planning preferences in your browser’s local storage so you can return to your work. These details are evaluated on your device and are not sent to SchoolRange. You can remove them with the planner’s reset control or by clearing this site’s browser data. Short-lived page choices may also stay in the current tab only.

Postcode searches

When you search by postcode, SchoolRange adds it to the planner URL so you can bookmark or share the same nearby-school search. Your browser also sends the postcode to postcodes.io to obtain the area’s centre coordinates. Our hosting provider and postcodes.io may receive the URL, postcode and request information such as your IP address in normal service logs under their own privacy practices. Family circumstances are kept out of the URL.

Availability requests and marketing

If you choose “Notify me when it’s ready”, we store your email address together with the relevant school, entry year and requested product so we can contact you once it becomes available. SchoolRange does not currently send recurring school notifications. Marketing emails require a separate optional opt-in, and you can withdraw that consent at any time by emailing us. Your family profile and selected priorities are not submitted with the request.

Guide requests

If you request the education guide, we store your email, chosen regional edition, language, request time and delivery/download records to send the guide and understand demand for its editions. A regional edition does not establish your nationality, and a download through a shared link does not identify the reader. If you choose to receive SchoolRange school-selection information and service updates, we separately record your consent, the wording shown and when and where you opted in. You can withdraw by replying to an update or emailing hello@schoolrange.com. Links expire after 48 hours; request records remain for delivery support and understanding guide demand, or until you ask us to delete them.

Decision Pack purchases and delivery

If you buy a Decision Pack, payment is processed by our payment service provider. SchoolRange stores the purchaser email, order and payment status, product and preference selections, delivery records and download access records needed to fulfil and support the purchase. Our email service sends the private download link. Essential, short-lived cookies keep the order and download session available in your browser.

Website operation

Our hosting provider may process IP addresses and request metadata in server logs to deliver, secure and maintain the website. Advertising on public content pages is described below.

Advertising on public pages

Selected free guides and school profile pages without a Decision Pack for sale use Google AdSense. School profiles with a Decision Pack for sale do not carry ads. Google and its advertising partners may receive your IP address, page URL, browser and device information, and may use cookies or identifiers to deliver, measure and personalize ads according to your choices and applicable requirements. We use Google’s consent message for visitors in the UK, EEA and Switzerland, with options to consent, decline or manage choices. You can revisit the privacy and cookie settings link on a page displaying that message to change or withdraw consent. Declining consent may still allow limited ads. We do not send planner family profiles, shortlist preferences, guide-request email addresses or purchase details to AdSense, and do not load advertising tags in the planner, checkout or private downloads.

How Google uses information from sites that use its services

Who we share data with

We use providers for hosting, security, operational storage, transactional email and payment processing. A postcode search is sent to postcodes.io. Google and its advertising partners process information on the public pages described above. We may also disclose information where required by law. We do not sell family profiles or customer email lists.

Retention and deletion

Information stored in your browser remains there until you reset the planner or clear this site’s browser data. Unpaid checkout records expire after 24 hours. We keep availability requests until they are fulfilled or you ask us to delete them, and optional marketing consent until it is withdrawn. Purchase and delivery records are kept only as long as needed to provide access, support the transaction and meet legal or accounting obligations.

Security

We use encrypted connections and access controls intended to protect information in transit and in our systems. No online service can guarantee absolute security; if you believe information has been exposed, contact us at hello@schoolrange.com.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, and to withdraw consent. Email hello@schoolrange.com to exercise those rights. In the UK, you may also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes

If we make material changes to this notice, we will update this page and the date above.
