Selective status and the school’s priority criteria are separate parts of admission.

Outside the normal age group?
Write to the Head Teacher. Requests are considered individually using development, medical evidence and previous education.
The Bexley Selection Test
- One test for four Bexley grammar schools
- Two timed multiple-choice papers covering verbal ability and comprehension, numerical reasoning and non-verbal reasoning.
- Score weighting
- Age-standardised total: verbal ability and comprehension 50%, numerical reasoning 25%, non-verbal reasoning 25%.
Bexley confirms selective status and top-180 status. The 2026 thresholds and exact early-October result date are not yet published. Selective status alone does not guarantee a place.
Where you live
Distance ranks the Pupil Premium pool and applicants after the higher priorities.
- Distance measurement
- A straight line from the home gate to the approved middle school gate, measured by the council.
- Address date
- The permanent home at National Offer Day is used. Proof is required; later moves do not change the distance.
Which home address counts?
The policy uses the home where the child lives with the main carer and requires residency evidence. Ask admissions which address and documents apply if care is shared or you are moving.

How to apply
Test registration is separate from your home council’s secondary school application.
Register with Bexley
Register for the shared test by 31 March and retain the confirmation email and SA reference.
Take the allocated test
Attend the assigned session and read Bexley’s selective and top-180 outcome in early October.
Submit Pupil Premium evidence if applicable
Complete the school’s form from 1–31 October with council or primary-school confirmation.
Apply through your home council
Name Bexley Grammar on your CAF by 31 October. The school form alone is not an application for a place.

How places are allocated
210 Year 7 places. All applicants in this priority order must be deemed selective.
EHCP placements come first
Children with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) naming Bexley Grammar must be deemed selective and are admitted before ordinary places are allocated.
Looked-after and previously looked-after children
First priority, including qualifying adopted children formerly in overseas state care.
Up to 12 Pupil Premium places
Children eligible at application, ranked by nearest distance. This group comes before top-180 applicants.

Children officially identified among the highest 180 Bexley scores.
Siblings in Years 7–11
A brother, sister, step-sibling or half-sibling must live at the same address and attend Years 7–11 at application.
Children of staff
The parent must have worked at Bexley Grammar for at least two years at application.

Nearest home-to-school distance.
How are equal distances decided?
Distance identical to 0.001 mile is broken by the higher selection-test score. No final rule is stated for identical distance and score; ask admissions if this affects your application.

Pupil Premium supplementary form
Only PP/free-school-meal claimants need the form. Submit it with a letter from the council or primary school by 31 October. Universal Mayor-funded meals alone do not qualify.
Residence evidence
Keep evidence of your child’s permanent home and main-carer arrangements for the council’s checks.
Test access arrangements
Requests and professional evidence went to the primary school by its final spring-term day. The headteacher’s supplementary evidence was due by 30 April. This did not replace test registration by 31 March.
