Harris Academy Wimbledon Year 7 admissions criteria

Priority order

  1. Children whose EHCP names the academy
  2. Looked-after and previously looked-after children
  3. Up to 18 children qualifying through the music-aptitude process
  4. Children with an eligible sibling at the academy in Years 7 to 13
  5. Eligible children of Harris Academy Wimbledon staff
  6. Remaining applicants through the three balanced nodal groups

Sibling priority

The sibling must attend Harris Academy Wimbledon in Years 7 to 13 both at the application deadline and when the applicant starts, and live at the same home address as part of the same core family unit.

Children of staff

The parent must be permanently based at Harris Academy Wimbledon for more than 50% of weekly term-time hours on a permanent employment contract, with two years' service or recruitment for a demonstrable skills shortage.

How distance is measured

Remaining applicants are initially assigned to their closest of three published nodes: Colliers Wood station, Haydons Road station or the academy entrance. SchoolRange can indicate the nearest node, but only Merton's GIS and the complete applicant cohort can determine allocation.

Other published rules

  • Looked-after children who also qualify for music aptitude reduce the number of places left in the 18-place aptitude category.
  • Unused capacity at one node is reallocated to other applicants by distance from that node; indivisible remainder places are random.
  • If one child in a multiple birth receives a place, the other children in that multiple birth are also admitted even if this exceeds PAN.
