Entry requirements
Check the shared Redbridge 11+ test and how your home address affects priority.

Outside the normal age group?
Ask the admissions authority to consider the request, with reasons and supporting evidence. It also seeks the current school’s advice and decides in the child’s best interests.
The entrance test
- Two GL Assessment papers
- English/Verbal Reasoning and Mathematics/Non-Verbal Reasoning.
- Minimum score
- 104 for every applicant, including priority categories.
A score of 104 permits consideration; places depend on priority and ranking. Results are emailed in the middle of October.
Where you live
Both schools share a Common Catchment Area. The policy includes outside-area applicants, after the ordinary inside-area category.
Use Redbridge’s official map to check your address. Care and Pupil Premium categories need confirmation if your child lives outside the area.
Check your home address
On Redbridge maps, choose Education, then 11+ Common Catchment Area and enter your postcode. The authority confirms whether your child’s address qualifies.
Use the child’s ordinary home at the application deadline, expected to continue in September 2027. Business, childminder and short-lease second-home addresses are not accepted.
Shared care, moving or returning from overseas?
Separated parents nominate one address. If one parent has sole parental responsibility, use that parent’s address; otherwise the authority normally uses the address held by the primary school.
Future addresses require exceptional consideration. Service families and families returning from overseas have specific evidence routes; ask the authority which address it will use.

How to apply
Test registration is separate from your home council’s secondary school application.
Redbridge residents can list up to six schools. The council offers the highest preference that can offer a place.
Register for the Redbridge 11+
Submit the council’s test registration and declare any adjustment needs with supporting evidence by the deadline.
Check your invitation and photo ID
Use the invitation for your assigned session. Bring the completed 11+ photo ID form; without it your child cannot sit the test.
Read the test result
Results arrive in the middle of October, before the council application deadline.
Apply through your home council
Name Ilford County High on the CAF in your genuine preference order. Check your home council’s deadline; Redbridge’s is 31 October.

Your home council sends the outcome. Redbridge’s published documents conflict on the March offer date; confirm it with admissions.

How places are allocated
180 Year 7 places. All four priorities require the minimum score of 104.
The care and Pupil Premium categories do not expressly require catchment residence, but the general catchment wording conflicts. Ask Redbridge how it applies to your child.
Looked-after and previously looked-after children
First priority, including the policy’s specified group adopted from state care outside England.
Up to 45 Pupil Premium children
Ranked by total standardised score. The authority checks eligibility, including Ever 6 and the policy’s Year 5 condition.

How are equal scores decided?
The shortest safe walking distance wins, measured by the authority’s GIS along public roads and recognised footpaths to the main school entrance. Flats use the block’s main entrance. Equal distance for the final place is resolved by the Synergy random-allocation system.
Only recognised safe routes count. The council’s measurement may differ from an online walking route or straight-line distance.
Waiting lists and missed tests
Waiting-list vacancies follow the same priority and score rules. Scores below 104 cannot enter the ranked or waiting list.
An on-time registrant who misses the test needs accepted documentary reasons for another sitting. Missing the correct ID, or choosing another school’s test that day, does not qualify for a replacement test.

Documents & support
Prepare the documents for testing, priority claims and your home address.
Date of birth and test ID
Supply date-of-birth identification for registration and bring the completed photo ID form to the test.
Test adjustments
Declare needs when registering and supply the primary-school care plan describing the test setting. No adjustments are considered after 15 June.
Pupil Premium evidence
Claim this category explicitly. The authority checks eligibility including Ever 6 at application and entitlement in Year 5.
Address evidence
Provide at least two listed proofs, including the mandatory council-tax bill. Tenants normally also need deposit-protection evidence. Contact admissions if you cannot supply the required proofs.
