Priority order

  1. Children whose EHCP names the academy
  2. Up to 60 foundation places for families whose worship evidence is accepted
  3. Within foundation places: looked-after children, then sibling, staff and other qualified applicants
  4. 120 open places, plus any unfilled foundation places
  5. Within open places: looked-after children, then sibling, staff and straight-line distance

Sibling priority

A sibling is a full, half, step, adoptive or foster brother or sister living predominantly in the same home at application and/or admission. The foundation sibling route also requires accepted worship evidence.

Children of staff

Priority applies where a parent has worked at the academy for at least two years at application, or was recruited to a post with a demonstrable skills shortage. The foundation staff route also requires accepted worship evidence.

How distance is measured

For open places, distance is measured in a straight line from the Post Office Address Point of the home to the school's Post Office Address Point, to three decimal places in miles. SchoolRange's postcode-centroid result is indicative only.

Evidence to prepare

  • Proof of the home address used for the application
  • The academy's current Supplementary Information Form, endorsed by a religious leader, if applying for a foundation place
  • Evidence of worship at least fortnightly for at least two years, or evidence for an accepted exceptional circumstance
  • Sibling or employment details if claiming those priorities

Other published rules

  • If fewer than 60 qualified foundation applicants receive places, the unused places become additional open places.
  • Qualified foundation applicants who do not secure a foundation place are also considered for any remaining open places.
  • An otherwise unresolved tie is decided by random allocation independently verified by someone outside the academy and local authority.
  • The academy may exceed PAN for same-year siblings split by the criteria unless doing so would prejudice education.
