Before you apply
Entry requirements
Check the two entrance-test rounds and the school’s distance priority.

Outside the normal age group?
Submit the appropriate council application form with a letter explaining the request and supporting evidence. The school considers development, health, previous schooling and headteacher views in the child’s best interests.
The entrance tests
- Round One
- Verbal reasoning, non-verbal reasoning and English. The top 300, including everyone tied at the cutoff, progress.
- Round Two
- English and Mathematics, by invitation during the week beginning 5 October.
Standardised results from both rounds determine final score ranking. Ordinary allocation requires candidates to have sat both rounds.
Test sessions and results
Your daughter sits one assigned Round One session at the school. The session cannot be changed for a clash with another school; tests cannot be taken remotely.
Round Two candidates do not receive their scores or ranks before the CAF deadline. The school provides admissions guidance in late October.
Where you live
There is no catchment restriction on applying. Girls living within three miles receive priority after looked-after and Pupil Premium applicants.
The three-mile rule uses your address when submitting the council application in October. Barnet confirms the official distance.
How are address and distance checked?
Barnet measures a straight line from the home’s Ordnance Survey address point to the school’s main entrance on Central Square. With more than one home, use the address where your child spends the majority of Monday–Friday school nights.
Barnet makes additional checks where a family moved within three miles during the previous 12 months, including any continuing interest in the former home.

How to apply
Test registration is separate from your home council’s secondary school application.
Submit the Entrance Test Entry Form
This online form is the school’s SIF. Include SEND or medical evidence and arrange for the current school to send any Pupil Premium confirmation.
Attend Round One
Bring the photo ID specified in the invitation to your assigned session.
Attend Round Two if invited
Invitations are due by 28 September. Use your invitation for the exact day in the week beginning 5 October.
Apply through your home council
Name Henrietta Barnett on the CAF in your genuine preference order by 31 October. Round Two scores are not released before this deadline.
Receive the council outcome
Your home council sends offers on 1 March 2027.
Places & priorities
How places are allocated
120 Year 7 places. After the EHCP route, these priorities apply to qualifying candidates who took both test rounds.
Separate EHCP route
The school must admit where it is named in Section I of the EHCP. The council consults it about suitability; top-300 Round One performance is good academic evidence alongside prior attainment.
Looked-after and previously looked-after girls
Top-300 Round One performance establishes the stated capability. Evidence of care status is required, including for the defined internationally adopted group.
Pupil Premium girls
Top-300 Round One performance establishes the stated capability. Written confirmation must arrive directly from the current school by 1 July.
Girls living within three miles
Residence is assessed when applying to the council in October. Sitting Round Two establishes the stated capability; if oversubscribed, places follow final score rank.
Remaining candidates
In final score-rank order, using both rounds.
How are ties decided?
If either the looked-after or Pupil Premium category has more qualifying girls than available places, nearest home-to-school distance decides. Equal score ranks also use distance.
Equal distance, or the same block of flats, is resolved using Barnet’s computerised random ordering. Distance is measured to the Central Square entrance.
EHCP consultation and evidence
The policy expects the entrance-test result before consultation. It describes a start no earlier than 1 November 2026, or the day after results if later, and considers prior attainment and reasonable adjustments. Discuss your child’s evidence and timetable with the council SEND team.
Waiting list
Qualifying applicants who took both rounds and received no place automatically join the waiting list unless offered a higher preference. The list clears at the end of the first term; contact Barnet to remain interested after that.
Family support
Documents & support
Arrange priority evidence and any test support when registering.
Pupil Premium confirmation
Ask the current school to send written confirmation directly by 1 July. Henrietta Barnett will not request it on your behalf.
Looked-after status
Provide documents confirming the care or previously-looked-after status claimed.
SEND or medical adjustments
Declare needs and submit evidence with the test form. The school decides adjustments; late reports may not be considered.
Photo ID and illness evidence
Bring the requested photo ID. Report illness by 09:00 on the test day and supply medical evidence within two working days.
