For an exceptional application outside this age group, contact the school before test registration with supporting professional evidence. No part of the test can be taken twice.

The entrance tests

Stage One
English and maths, computer-marked.
Stage Two
Written English and maths, by invitation.

The school standardises and age-weights scores. An invitation to Stage Two is not an offer.

Your address affects priority. The policy also includes applicants outside the priority areas.

Moving home or changing address?

Kingston requires the child and parent to be habitually resident at application and expected to remain until school starts. Moving families need evidence and verification of the new address by 7 December 2026 for the first offer round. Other home councils have their own procedures.

How to apply

Test registration is separate from your home council’s secondary school application.

The CAF deadline comes before Stage Two. Do not wait for that test to submit your council application.

  1. Register with the school

    Submit the online Supplementary Information Form (SIF) and supporting evidence by the test deadline.

  2. Take the Stage One test

    The school decides who progresses. Invitations are expected around 14 October 2026.

  3. Apply through your home council

    Name Tiffin Girls on your CAF by 31 October, before the Stage Two test.

  4. Attend Stage Two if invited

    Take the second test on 7 November. Your council sends offers on 1 March 2027.

Places & priorities

How places are allocated

180 Year 7 places. Priority categories and test scores work together.

The first two groups below normally need a combined mark at least equal to the 350th-ranked Stage Two mark. A lower-threshold arrangement also applies to certain children; see the clarification below.

The EHCP route comes first

An Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) naming the school is considered first, through the council’s SEND route. The child must demonstrate academic ability through the school’s tests.

  1. Looked-after and previously looked-after girls

    First priority after the EHCP route, subject to the school’s score requirement.

  2. A pool of up to 60 places

    Eligible Pupil Premium girls in the Inner or Designated Area first, then other Inner Area girls. Pupil Premium and residence conditions apply at the SIF deadline.

  3. Remaining places

    Designated Area girls first, then girls outside it. Applicants are ranked by combined mark within each category.

How are equal scores decided?
Last place in the 60-place pool
Equal scores: nearest home-to-school distance, then independently verified random selection if distance is also equal.
Last place at the 180-place limit
Equal scores: looked-after status, then current Pupil Premium, then distance within the Designated Area before outside. Distance also orders ties within the first two categories; equal distance ends in independently verified random selection.
How distance is measured
The council measures a straight line from the property’s Ordnance Survey point to the nearest school gate.
