Entry requirements
Selective status and the school’s priority criteria are separate parts of admission.

Ordinary entry requires Bexley selective status. Unfilled places in the 20-place Pupil Premium pool can extend to eligible girls up to 2% below the standard.
Outside the normal age group?
Entry up to one year early requires successful study in Year 6. Girls born 1 April–31 August 2015 are also eligible if Reception was delayed and they remained out of cohort throughout primary school.
The Bexley Selection Test
- One test for four Bexley grammar schools
- Two timed multiple-choice papers covering verbal ability and comprehension, numerical reasoning and non-verbal reasoning.
- Score weighting
- Age-standardised total: verbal ability and comprehension 50%, numerical reasoning 25%, non-verbal reasoning 25%.
Bexley confirms selective status and top-180 status. The 2026 thresholds and exact early-October result date are not yet published. Selective status alone does not guarantee a place.
Where you live
Distance ranks applicants after the higher priority groups and breaks equal scores within the Pupil Premium pool.
- Distance measurement
- The council measures a straight line from the home address to the approved student entrance.
- Address date
- The child’s home with their main carer at National Offer Day. Later moves do not change the measurement.

How to apply
Test registration is separate from your home council’s secondary school application.
Register with Bexley
Register for the shared test by 31 March and retain the confirmation email and SA reference.
Take the allocated test
Attend your child’s assigned session. Bexley expects to publish results in early October.
Complete Townley’s form if claiming Pupil Premium
Submit the school’s supplementary form by 31 October. Confirm eligibility with the primary school if unsure.
Apply through your home council
Name Townley on the CAF by 31 October. The pupil’s name and home address on the school form must match the CAF.
Places & priorities
How places are allocated
224 Year 7 places. The Pupil Premium pool comes before top-180 priority.
EHCP placements come first
Children with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) naming Townley must be deemed selective and are admitted before ordinary places are allocated.
Looked-after and previously looked-after girls
First priority after statutory placements, subject to the selective standard.
20-place Pupil Premium pool
Girls meeting the selective standard, ranked by descending standardised score, then distance. Townley must be on the CAF and the SIF must be submitted.
Unfilled places in the same pool
If fewer than 20 places are filled, eligible Pupil Premium girls up to 2% below the standard follow, by score then distance. The CAF and SIF are still required.
Bexley top 180
Girls officially identified among the highest 180 Bexley scores.
Siblings
A full, adopted, step- or half-sibling must live at the same address and attend Townley at application.
Children of qualifying staff
A parent employed for two years at application and/or recruited to a demonstrable shortage post.
Remaining places
Nearest home-to-school distance, irrespective of selective score.
How are equal distances decided?
The higher aggregate test score wins. If both distance and score remain equal, the school uses random allocation.

Pupil Premium supplementary form
The form is only for Pupil Premium applicants. Supply pupil, home, parent and primary-school details, answer the FSM/PP and sibling questions, and submit by 31 October.
Matching CAF details
The form declaration requires the pupil’s name and home address to match the CAF and Townley to be named there. Ask the primary school to confirm Pupil Premium eligibility if unsure.
Test access arrangements
Requests and professional evidence went to the primary school by its final spring-term day. The headteacher’s supplementary evidence was due by 30 April. This did not replace test registration by 31 March.
